Visit the MetaMask Website
Open your web browser and go to the official MetaMask website.
Download the Extension or App
MetaMask is available as a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge, and as a mobile app for iOS and Android. Choose your preferred platform and click on the appropriate download link.
Install MetaMask
Follow the prompts to install the MetaMask extension or app. For browser extensions, you'll need to add MetaMask to your browser. For mobile apps, download and install the app from your device's app store.
Create a New Wallet
Open MetaMask after installation. You will be greeted with a welcome screen. Click "Get Started" and choose the option to create a new wallet.
Set Up a Password
Enter a strong password to secure your MetaMask wallet. Make sure to remember this password, as you will need it to access your wallet.
Backup Your Seed Phrase
MetaMask will generate a 12-word seed phrase for you. This seed phrase is crucial for recovering your wallet if you forget your password or lose access to your device. Write down your seed phrase and store it in a secure location. Do not share your seed phrase with anyone.
Confirm Your Seed Phrase
To ensure you have correctly backed up your seed phrase, MetaMask will ask you to confirm it. Select the words in the correct order to verify your backup.
Finish Setup
Once your seed phrase is confirmed, your MetaMask wallet is set up and ready to use.
Receive Ethereum or Tokens
To add funds to your MetaMask wallet, you can receive Ethereum (ETH) or other ERC-20 tokens. Click on the "Account" tab to view your wallet address. Use this address to receive funds from another wallet or exchange.
Buy Ethereum
MetaMask allows you to buy Ethereum directly within the wallet using various payment methods. Click on the "Buy" button and follow the instructions to purchase ETH.
Connect to a dApp
MetaMask enables you to interact with decentralized applications (dApps) directly from your wallet. Visit a dApp website and look for the "Connect Wallet" button. Click on it and select MetaMask to connect your wallet.
Authorize Transactions
When interacting with dApps, you will need to authorize transactions through MetaMask. Review the transaction details and click "Confirm" to proceed.
